Continuing on from my previous post, if you're a beginning programmer there's a great site out there for you: Code Newbie. You absolutely do not have to know how to program already when you go to this site and you can get great explanations of common programming problems in the forums. Check it out!

That looks like a promising site, but I would be wary of what's posted on there.
It looks to be starting up, their articles are hit or miss in both explanation and accuracy, and the forums are still populated by few real experienced people. The C Array article warrants no higher than a 3/10, for example.
It may turn out to be a great site, but I wouldn't take what's posted there without verifying the information from another source.
Their IRC channel may be a different story, however. I have no idea about that.

Code Newbie has been going for 5 years now and one of their contributors is my lead programmer. Believe me, it's a great site.

Hi all,
I am Valmont, one of the regular contributors of the ISO C++ subforum.
Asskoala does have a point, however the tutorials posted are only checked by decency. No claims are ever made. I believe that the most of us over there share the opinion that friendly, patient communication between less seasoned coders and more experianced coders is the thing we would like to offer. For the student, we built up a tremendous knowledge base if one takes the time to read the threads in the forums.
Go for it I'd say. If you have doubts, questions, etcetera, just communicate!

Looks like a reasonable site to me, but i don't get the point of news items like "How to fix your Windows with Knoppix" and the like. Even if you just start programming, using and/or repairing an OS is a whole other topic, at least IMO. It seems to me that kind of "popular" news items just shouldn't be there. I'd like those news posters to get more to the point of the site ;)

We are more then "just" a programmers forum. We interact about operatings systems, software, hardware as well. Sometimes we discuss things related to the world of ICT.
And sometimes we joke around... merely having some fun. We are whatever the visitors and the hosts make of it I suppose.

Just took a brief look at CodeNewbie, and its actually very good. Im a cross Web/Win32 Developer, and their articles are quite good.
I may just have to contribute a thing or two ;)
