These days it's hard not to notice just how awesome Apple has become. Sure, you pay a premium price but you enjoy the best of the best with an aesthetic quality unmatched by even their most sincere imitators.I've been an Apple guy since 1979 and devoted 10 years of my life to the 6502 nestled deep within the Apple II series. I admired the Mac but wasn't a Mac nut until the latest OS release, Leopard. And now the Mac just simply rocks.
It started with the iPhone I got back in June. Coolest device I've ever owned and it's still the best. Frequent firmware upgrades make me really happy. Because of the phone I went out and got a MacBook laptop with Leopard installed so I could see if Mac OS X with all of NeXTSTEP's awesomeness inside it was really all I was hoping it would be. And wow, was I blown away.
Until you've used a computer where the OS was written FOR the specific hardware you just don't know what you're missing. The world of the PC is based on the reality that everyone's computer is different and requires special drivers to make it work right - but only with that one device. The Mac is different - it's designed to work together as a whole and you can really tell the difference. Even the pixelicious scrolling in Safari is enough to show you how smoooooth the experience is.
So, in love with the MacBook, I went out and got an Apple TV since I had tired of the buggy-ass D-Link streaming video box I have (and the garbage one before it). And again I was totally amazed at how awesome and easy this device turned out. I'm a total iTunes devotee so the Apple TV just worked exactly as I had hoped. Better in fact.
And now MacWorld 2008 has shown promise that Apple's long awaited rise to prominence has begun. I'm excited about the future of Apple again.

Apple is the promise that really was missing from the computer world since the invention of the personal computer.
It all began 5 years ago with the MacOS X, a system where finally, the high level and the low level are brought together with clarity and simplicity instead of a techno-lammer glue of unfinished thinking. That was the beginning, then the iPod brand-pocket-building success sky-rocketed the intentions to new heights and with it Steve Jobs is now able to really bring the neat aspects of his personality into frution.
Stylish hardware and functional software are not just separate entities that sound neat together, they are the basic building blocks of a true desirable user experience.
For far, far too much time microsoft dominated and dragged the world around their tiny little box of legacy-ridden tricks, but now, that is all over and a new era is forming.
A new era of inteligent, sexy, productive and intuitive machine-human interface devices. A world where machines are a pleasure to behold and work with.
We deserve them. We are not geeks. We are human beeing on the verge of a spiritual marriage to technology.
We are trully it.

I also wish I had a mac pro. wish the market for mac specific games was bigger.
But yeah I chose mac not only because of apple's superior OS but also because I'd like to follow in your footsteps and do my first games and such on an apple computer. (was moved by Masters of Doom).

Asus custom Linux for the EEE
works great as well .
2008 is going to be interesting
with more small 'ultra portable'
laptops . The Asus EEE and its clones that come with linux are all the rage at the moment as well .
Windows POS Vista has done more for
Linux and Mac then Windows XP ever did . More people are willing to
try overpriced apple hardware
and Linux on the x86/x64 based hardware.
D-Link streaming video box if its the same model sold in Australia
its a horrid peice of crap .
Products like Mediagate and
Zensonic Z500 are far better.
Havent seen Cloverfield (2008)

on the 26 Dec when I was watching

I will never buy apple crap again.
I brought a macbook pro for studies at uni, had the hard drive fail once, cd drive fail once and the power supply failed three times all in a period of 5 months. I was on premium warranty and the apple staff were rude and not concerned about fixing my problem.
I have owned a ipod video 30gb, and the battery just failed on me around a week ago and it's about 9 months old.
I ended up just tossing the macbook pro and buying a regular laptop four months ago, no problems so far!
One lesson learnt: I WILL NEVER BUY APPLE AGAIN
