Who are the guys who made the DooM95 port, and did they or someone else make a Hexen95 or the like?

The dos exe is crap on my system and I really need a better port.

Doom and doom2 only work properly on dos or win9*; I've heard it can be set up on win2000 but only if you have a SB compatible card, but music, I think, won't work in that case...

You can get ports from doomworld.com's source ports section; the most popular ones are jdoom (true 3d, video acceleration, polygons), doom legacy (true 3d, video acceleration, scripting), zdoom (slopes, scripting) and prboom (more like the original but also has a gl version)

The win95 port was made by someone from MS, I think (odd question, the credits when you start it up, or the "about" in the launcher, should say). Hexen95? Not sure. But jdoom has hexen support, I think, and so does zdoom (though I'm not sure if support is full yet, since it's a new feature and the present version is in beta stage). I'm sure someone else around here should know about this more than me, since I'm the proud possessor of a machine running win98, so I don't have problems running the original thing and don't use ports much...

Well I have a copy of JHexen. But its still not finished in development. none of the intros work, the dreaded HOM shows up every so often which is a common problem with OpenGL, and it just doesn't feel real enough as Zdoom or Legacy, and my system is not backwards compatible enough for the DOS EXE for Hexen. Zdoom itself doesn't have full support for Hexen. and I am hoping that either I can find a Vanilla Hexen port, or that Hexen Legacy will be finished soon.

Is it just me or has the ZDooM(.notgod.com) site been off-line now for 3 days?
