Sorry for the empty first post guys - first time and I blew it.

I'm not even halfway finished with it, but it's interesting so far. I'm just curious about how John feels about it. Has he ever mentioned it here?

Yes, many moons ago he mentioned the interviews and such and that a book was to be forth coming. He seems pretty good with it. Seeing as on the main rome.ro site I believe he said that he thought the Gamespot article was pretty acurate on what happened with ION Storm, I would think he'd be pretty ok with the book. I mean the book paints a better pic of him than the Gamespot article did. What the GS article didn't cover was the Carmack relationship... I would think if anyone would have a problem with the book it might be Carmack. I haven't actually heard his reaction on this yet. I mean that whole bit about Carmack's whiring and that first time he gets drunk is pretty eccentric. Still, it does paint him as the genius that he is so who knows.

its true that the book portrays Carmack as a genius, but also a cold man, rememebr Mitzi the Cat?

also about the ideas of firing people, etc.

I always thought John Romero was a cool guy but after reading MoD, hes even cooler!

Very solid read, I was actually surprised at how much firing/hiring took place..  It always seemed that project 'x' could never be completed without the help of "insert person here", yet on other projects that same person was what held the project back.

Pictures would have definitely been the icing on the cake, but still on hellofaread.

I'm very satisfied with MoD.  Both Carmack and I had to completely verify the book 100% and tell Random House that we agreed with the contents.  So, we're both in agreement that the book is accurate.

Of course, there's so much more about the Ion story that couldn't be printed because of contracts that were signed between ex-partners, so the whole Ion story can't be told.

I read it too. But it doesnt improved my english.
Problem is, i never translate, what i read in english. I understand it in english. So i never learn more, cause i miss many little words, that you never need to understand, but to talk. ;-)
