difficult question for me, as most of my last maps are like i wanted them.

My favorit one is e1ractf1, the best looking and most fun for me.
E1ra1 is great to play, but i lost the source long ago, and cant polish it (ugly shadows, bug...), which is a little sad as its often played.
And Moloch, too big sadly, it tired the server and video cards but i love that map so much.

Heres 3 good conversions i really like, which are fun to play and well made. Wayne's Doom "Hanger" (Gibcity3) is good, i which we could have a big team game on it. Dr Foxy's Slipgate has an incredible look and plays well even if i never like much teleporters in DM maps. And of course i love my "The Edge" (Quake II) conversions for episode 3 and 4 ; the e4 being the best of both.

Now about the CTB maps :
they are both fun to play, but both look ugly. CTB1 because i was busy at this time and just wanted a fast map to have fun playing a new type of DK game, CTB2 because the actual final version is a beta : the source has been lost with e1ra1 and others in an apocalyptic hard drive crash. E1CTB1 is too much fun to play for me, but looks very very ugly lol
And im not talking of my first maps, which looks horrible

Nizcorpses is a brilliantly designed map imo and is not played enough!  Rocks for FFA and Insta.

nizcorpses is a shogo conversion so the layout isn't mine... however i put in stupid amounts of play testing to get the item placement where i liked it. the item placement as far as i know bares no resemblance to the shogo original, and obviously i put stuff in places on the map you couldn't even get to in shogo

again, slipgate isn't my design (bows down to the romero) and the original is still one of my favourite 1 on 1 dm maps.

personally, of the maps i made myself (because I can't include them in my favourite custom maps being biased) i was proudest of poseidon's tomb and canyon... just because those two maps had a feel all of their own and imho played differently to any of the other dk maps.

but in terms of *my* favourite maps to play on... i love smover's king of the hill. love it love it love it. every weapon is in the exact right place and it has this mad flow that nothing else i've played has. if i make a map for ut2k3 with prefabs (probably just for the  hell of it) the first thing i'm going to do is rip off king of the hill

the gibcity maps were nice and certainly well designed, it just never really felt like they were dk maps. smover always put stuff in places you had to have mad dk skills to get and i always enjoyed that

capture the bomb 1... hehe... i'll never forget the bug we found below the castle in that... hours of fun hurling myself to death just to try and land alive beneath the castle... also... hiding in the lava with the bomb before you put in the ladder.

smiles.

when I played, the best were, the Moloch, the Castle, the Edge for episode 4, RGRebel's maps, ... and of course, some maps for episode 3 (almost all, lol)

Wow Ryan, just read your post and this makes me remembers lots of hidden souvenirs ;) Gibcity 1 was a great map but i also had this 'out of DK' feeling. And after all these years i really love so much my e1RA1, but it is somehow the same, i mean i really wanted with it something very Q3ish, even if of course beyond that i tried to design a map for DK gameplay. I'll always regret so much that i lost this map sources and CTB2 sources : this one was so much fun when i tested the betas (with Razor and Sarge ?). Thank you for King Of The Hill, i really appreciate that !!

The great old days were so fucking great !!!
