Shout out here what you thought was the best game ending/final fight and what game really let you down at the end.

Personally, of what I played and finished, I thought the ending/final fight of Undying was tough both physically and mentally, could have been better if it were a bit shorter. Although I remember practically laughing my head off through all of Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle.

On the flip side, I think the console-to-PC port of the Spiderman game had a weak ending. I was expecting a brawl and instead got a webslinging test with a nearly useless view. The giant Mysterio or first run in with the shielded Doc Ock felt more like an ending to me.

That's just my opinion anyway

eh, Quake 1's snail end-boss made for a very lame end.

I agree that the actual defeat of slub nuggarth or whatever the name was was quite a disappointment. Where was my mind? At least there was a guantlet of foes leading up to him, but once that was done a stupid telefrag ended it.

Romero, was Doom II ending designed with the "shooting" of random enemies or was the skull going to shoot rockets or stuff like that at first?

I think q1 ending was great! It's not like those endings with a big badass whit 4199293939 hp and you can't kill him until a age has passed! You have to think a little bit more to kill
shub-niggurath! I think it was great! even now there is people that still asking how to kill shub-niggurath!!! maybe the question is... well you've killed the boss, but how I get the fuck out of there? there isn't a teleporter or something like that!

I love the ending of Scourge of Armagon! it's great!

Maybe i was disapointed for the end map! it was a little bit doomish! It don't look like a huge cave!

The ending for Quake sucks. I mean, its a still screen showing you standing where shub just got telefragged. And you're like standing there in a running stance holding your ax looking really dumb. I think I laughed when that happend. A much better ending would be the end of Zerstoer for quake.

I once had an Alpha or something of Quake 1 and in my recollection, the end boss map was completely different! It still had shub, but he was sort of behind this wall, and, I can't remeber how you killed him but, anyhow there was also these ledges up high on the sides of the walls with Vores on them (Vores are the spider guys that shoot purple spikey balls right?).

This version of Quake had the Doom2 sprite for teleporting and warping, instead of the quake1 particles...

What the heck was this verion of Quake John??

My game library is very small so I have not actually finished very many games, but I definitely have a favorite ending, which is VERY OBVIOUSLY! sonic adventure 2     ha ha ha! I love how they beautifully did the story line, and everything builds up to that scene where shadow runs in to the biolizard thing!  and the worst, Zelda 2.  WTHECK WAS UP WITH THAT!!!! You couldn't make sense out of it if you redid the whole game.

blade runner - one of the best endings (well it's one of the greatest games)... there are like 15 or so endings, but so far i've only seen 9 or 10.

there are lots of weak endings, like... q2, q3, rtcw are among worst ones. but quake wasnt about the ending but a GAME!

My opinion mirrored that of Burzum perfectly... Nailing ganon and nostalgically revisting the places you saw with that music playing gives me goose bumps all over.  Dito with quake... it sucked... the shub level was ok and the telefrag idea but the "ending" sucked.

People seem torn between end sequence and last level/act type thing...

Best end sequence (other than the above) was from chrono trigger.
Best boss i thought was in starfox/starwing - polygon spewin bad guy ahoy!

The Zombies ate my neighbours end sequence sucked... after all those levels i thought you were entitled to something a bit spiffier.  Also i think all racing games have crap endings... Havent played most of them because i know it will just be a statistic fest.

Worst ending is easy, you could list 99% of the games ever made to find a poor ending.

Best ending....hell that's a hard one.

Nothing jumps out at me as I always feel disapointed when I complete a game....

Streetfighter 2 had good endings, for an arcade game, so did the MK series.

Sonic and mario games were usually pretty good too, as were alot of the Konami platformers (like rocket knight adventures, class game that is).

The ending to Shogo was good, ROFL, you get to blow up the bartender who wouldn't give you a drink earlier in the game. (if memory serves me correctly)

The version of Quake with the big wall and floating platforms was a pre-beta version -- I really didn't like the look of the level (Sandy did it) and wanted something more interesting instead of just shooting the monsters, they die, and you win.  So, I came up with the telefragging of Shub Niggurath.  The Quake guy holding the axe at the end DID look lame, but we were in a major hurry to just get the game out since everyone was completely burnt out by that time.

My favorite game endings:
* Chrono Trigger (11 different endings!)
* Duke Nukem 3D ("I'm gonna rip of yer head and shit down your neck!" hahahahaha! )
* Full Throttle (semi over the cliff ending)

Worst ones?  Too many...
