We've covered Cars, what's your favorite non fiction air craft? I'd have to go with with the xf-85

It's dated and borderline classic but I've always liked the F-14. Ever since playing jetfighter (yes, the original, I'm old) and watching the wings kick back into ass-kickin' mode I've been a Tomcat fan.

I like that plane Arnold flys in True Lies, you know the one that can land and take off like a helicopter. The name escapes me right now....

I don't know what the hell that is. Is it an actual plane? I mean is a real plane or an artists idea for one? Looks kinda weird. [ December 05, 2002, 01:10 PM: Message edited by: Doom_Dude ]

I don't mean to sound geeky and all and I'm certainly no wealth of knowledge in this area, but if you look at the basic shape of that jet - bulbous front, neck leading back to angled and bent wings - it looks like a Klingon warship. Agree?

Or reminds me of a high tech SR-71 Blackbird. Looking at the bottom of it (from what I can see in that picture), it almost looks like it could fare well in water. Behind the cockpit, over the fuselage, it looks like it has a 3rd wing. Interesting to have a third 'wing' instead of a tail. Maybe that's what the angled wings are for.

It has to be an artist impression - the craft has no sense of presence in the picture plus the jaggered lines on the cockpit... For sure its a concept craft though..
A small look at "concept" aircraft or "experimental" or "artists impression" and all you get are craft that still look fairly functional (familiar) and tie in with todays planes.
Having searched around for a good 30 minutes (hard to tell if i am using the cnn search thing in the best way) but i cant find it...
RacerTex mentioned water... i went the other way - space... re-entry vehicle... it drops through the atmosphere and has standard atmospheric propulsion (air intake behind cockpit) but i'm no engineer...
