Nothing at all what? The edos responses or the way we could put our hands on the code??
have you send the emails or you are still waiting?
What did Mr. Romero did to get the source code?
Come on man the whole source code of quake2 is released, why would they hold the daikatana code?? Now its an old game and it wont add any profit for them!!

The game is strill activly being sold in bargain bins, maybe they hope someone one day will give them money for it.

If you are keeping the emails on the web site then nothing is going to change
You have to contact eidos and send the emails for them
And for Mr. satori id software is going to release quake 3 code in few months, and quake 3 is more popular then daikatana and there is more demand for it (the are going to re-release  it).
But are this is what they said or what you think?
We have to move, and we have to move now

Whatever happened to this effort?

Question? If Daikatana was made with Q2 engine then that source is public. Can't you just use it or Q3 to do stuff with for DK?

I know there was probably some tweaking of the Q2 source for DK but can't those tweaks be duplicated even better with Q3?

Just curious!

A few tweaks is one thing, but your talking two different beasts.

Between Q2 and DK, there's changes to the graphics engine, changes to the physics, changes to the enemies, changes/additions of game elements, additions of the interactive sidekicks, additions to the various file structures and formats, and lots more i'm sure.

Though it wouldn't be impossible, it would still be alot of work, and you'd need someone (ie People), that  know what they're doing to actually make it happen.

Since it has been done by the company and employees, why, to  use the almost cliche, re-invent the wheel.  It's also the kind of task, where once your started, it wouldn't be satisfying unless you managed to completely finish it.. which also takes a devoted team of people and exceeding amounts of perseverance.  Time is money.  If someone were to do that, why not just build a new game from scratch and try and make some money for all that work involved.

Personally, i'd just love to see bots added for offline deathmatch, and a spectator mode for online play.  That and a map-bug tweak.

Transfering the data and using the gameplay elements from DK in Q3 would be almost pointless because the graphics in DK aren't upto what could be done in Q3.  It could be done, but without high-colour image sources it wouldn't look like it should.

Plus the Quake 3 Source Code was released.

There's really no single reason now to NOT release Daikatana's source code!
