Do you still have an Apple ][ ?
I have! And I still play on it but I don't have a lot of games for it. Sometimes I make my own games in applesoft basic. I don't know how to progam in assembler (I'm learning directX now)

You asked for it, you got it: EVERY SINGLE game written for the Apple ][ is right here:  Apple ][ Archives

You will find Decathlon in images/games/sports... it's called olympic_decathlon.nib.gz

You need to download the Apple ][ emulator that I recommended on the front page of //Rome.ro to play it.

I have also found this archive : ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/games/. It downloaded a lot faster for me than the one John pointed to, though I'm at the ass-end of the world so that's not saying much.

It does have all the Infocom games though, which is very cool indeed. If you've ever played Zork you'll know where I got my name from

I'm glad John is so keen on remembering the fond Apple II days.  Besides, a lot of us folk learned to program using it.  I, myself, learned a great deal about programming (and 6502 assembly) from John's game listings in Nibble magazine.  It was a pain in the butt typing in the code to Major Mayhem and City Centurian, but boy, was it worth it!  I've already thanked John for this, but thanks again!

Favorite Apple II/IIgs games (that I DIDN'T type in

- Wasteland (IIe)
- Autoduel (IIe)
- Wings of Fury (IIe) - which SUCKS on the Game Boy, by the way, doesn't hold a candle to the Apple II version
- Task Force (IIgs)
- Silpheed (IIgs)
- Rastan (IIgs) - How the HELL did they get the screen to scroll so fast??
- Crystal Quest (IIgs)

John, is there a port of Wolf3D for the IIgs?  I remember hearing somewhere that Bill Heineman (sp?) did it.

Wow, thanks Mark!  At least someone remembers some of the stuff I did in the 80's!      You might not know this, but Chris Rhinehart (who is a co-founder of HumanHead Studios) also learned 6502 Assembler from my Major Mayhem game listing!

Did you ever type in the code to Treasure Dive?  It was on the cover of the December 1989 Nibble.

Bill H. says there is a //gs port of Wolf3D, but I've never seen it...

No, sorry John, I never did type in the code for Treasure Dive.  To tell you the truth, it didn't look like something I wanted to play!

There are some websites about Wolf3D for the IIgs around... Google found a few:

http://www.sheppyware.net/products/a2/wolf3d/ - Official site, download it for free

http://www.3drealms.com/wolf3d - Actually has a link to the above site!

Other pages says that "Bernie ][ The Rescue" is the only emulator that will run Wolf3D.

I wonder how Wolf3D runs at the normal 2.8 MHz... either way, Bill H. rocks!

Now I'm waiting for IIgs-DOOM     Yeah right!

Now I just found out that "Bernie ][ The Rescue" is only available for Power Macs.  ERRRRRRRGH I want my IIgs Wolf3D!  Maybe I can head to the local university and extract the files onto 800K 3.5" disks so I can run it on my IIgs...

Yeah, it's worth it!

btw, surely you all mean "Castle Wolfenstein"? that's the title of the original Apple version, IIRC. It's the id/Apogee game that's "Wolfenstein 3D"...

Hey, Adam, have you played the Mac version of Wolf3D?  Man, the music is *awesome* in that version.
