The best Dave's are the PC Dangerous Dave and the "Haunted Mansion" sequel.  Both offer *very* different types of gameplay, the sequel being light-years ahead of the simple PC original, althought the venerable PC version is so simple yet challenging you find yourself playing it over and over.

Lucas here at Monkeystone recently went through all 10 levels and we have screenshots of the entire game -- I'm stringing them together for a nice Dangerous Dave MAPPED! feature...... heh.

I was going to write a level viewing thingie for Dangerous Dave, but I guess that's not necessary anymore    .

Right now I'm writing a level viewing thingie in Qbasic (so it's kinda slow    ) for Shadow Knights, which also supports Dangerous Dave and the Haunted Mansion, Rescue Rover I and Paragon, because The Rome.ro said there's a word spelled out in Shadow Knights (http://rome.ro/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000035#000002) I've found the letters ID but The Rome.ro never said if that was the right word so I'm writing a thing so I can look if there are other words spelled out.
BTW How do you read the S_*.nin files (the graphics of all the enemies and stuff) of Shadow Knights and Dangerous Dave and the Haunted Mansion?

Wow, I can't remember the format of those files it was so long ago.  I'm sure it was a custom file format......

Hmm, I would have to say that the Haunted Mansion was my favorite.

I like the setting and I like fragging zombies.
