I'm sure they are in the EXE. Dave has only 4 files:
Dave.exe            all the stuff
Dave.txt            text about the game, file is not used in the game
Egadave.dav         all the EGA graphics
Dscores.dav         high scores

hm mine doesn't have an exe file

finally after last time i played DD 2 years ago i did beat the game this week... using alot of game's bugs, of course  

and now i wanna see these couple of different levels
