Does anyone remeber the bug in Dave where if you stand at just the right spot beneath a brick, you can jump up and "climb" the brick because your feet are kinda trapped inside the wall? That was very useful.

All those secrets like the Warp Zones, and the sneaky warped top/bottom of levels, that was very cool. It gave the game an even more surreal atmosphere.

The first time I got level 10, I ran out of Jetpack, panicked, and died horribly (I exploded from landing in the water... hmmm), mere PIXELS from the exit door! Arg!
But it wasn't long before I finally completed the game.

===

As for Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion, when I realised that the info for each level was stored in a separate filename, I just copied the file for level one into all the other filenames. Ten completions of level one later, I got to see how it all ended. (I am teh L33t haxor!)
I also used this technique to check out the other levels. Yikes, I would've never been able to finish most of them! But the original VGA Dave was better anyway, IMO.

yeah, a new member in the Dangerous Dave series would be good. :-)

but not a 2D one... i would like to see a 3D Dave that uses the most of today's 3D technology, combined -of course- with the gameplay of DD :-)

Oh yes, of course - Copyright Infringement MUST be put up!

I haven't mentioned this anywhere before because the book publisher doesn't want to start up the PR and marketing engine about this new book until about April, but I just gotta mention this in here:

There's a book coming out near E3 time that's called Masters of DOOM and the entire book is about mine and John Carmack's life story up until about the start of 2002.  There's an entire chapter in the book titled "Dangerous Dave in Copyright Infringement" -- that is SO FUNNY!

John, Can you tell us who the publisher of this book is, or is that on the Q.T. as well?

satori, the author is David Kushner. He seems like a really cool guy, and he's a gamer too.

The chapter is called "Dangerous Dave in Copyright Infringement" because of the impact the game (created overnight) had on the creation of id Software, not to mention how much the engine meant to Romero. It was their ticket out of Softdisk.

The book was released on the 6th of May, and I read through it, and it's a damn good book, if I may say so myself! I learned a lot about Romero, most of which I hadn't known before--but there were also a lot of things I could remember reading about. It definitely changed my perspective of Romero in several ways. And all for the better.
