catacomb 3d is actually quite a good game, it got me scarred when I was smaller because i was scared what was behind the corner.

heres a really totally random fact to do with this game. In the morning i once played the shareware of catacomb 3d on my old 486, and then in that afternoon i went to the (old) BT museum in central london.

I've only played the shareware version (and finished it). It was good, but a bit ...repeating. Anyway, it was fun.

However, even if you find it, don't try to play it under a Windows NT-based machine (Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows .NET or newer). It will be slow (except if you have a vveerryy fast PC).

Is there a shareware version of Catacomb 3-D? Or are you talking about Catacomb Abyss?

No, Catacomb Abyss was the sequal.  It wasn't by Id, has much worse graphics, and only has PC speaker sound.  Most people confuse it with Catacomb 3D.

now thats what I call strange, normally sequels do not have worse sound and graphics

no wonder I never head of it.

Catacomb 3d - What an excellent game. It has some really innovative features that I wish would've carried on into Wolfenstein 3d. Breakable walls for example, it's so cool to be able to destruct parts of the environments, it really adds an extra something memorable to the game. And the charging weapon, you could charge your fireball to be ultra powerful and take down small enemies with one shot. Sorry, I just had to give some nostalgic commentary on this subject

You could destroy walls in Operation: Body Count by using a special weapon (some sort of bazooka). O:BC uses the Wolfenstein 3-D engine.
