I'm sure some of you heard the news from E3. Hopefully Monkeystone will be producing for it as well. Looks like it could really spice things up.

Yeah, for sure. I'll be watching it with interest.

Just got a Nokia 3650, which seem to have limitless potential. Also looking forward to games for that.

*unf*
It doesn't look good for Nintendo.
And one of the exec's said that when hardware stops flowing, so do the games. *sniff* That'd be the end of a 20+ year era. Stupid Sony.

I doubt Nintendo will be disappearing anytime soon. They have some fairly solid titles and could still release them for other platforms.

A competing hand-held is gonna put Nintendo out of business?

Phhhhhht.  Right.

1. Sony's profits do not affect Nintendo's profits.

2. People can have both PSPs and GBAs.

3. Wow, oh, wow.  This article's editor needs a good beating:
"At the most interesting and entertaining of the big E3 press conferences"
"a negative affect"
"will have a 3D screen"
"Some of those games looked like great exercise."
"Sony's press conference made the other two pale in comparison. The Xbox team had no surprises to offer. Microsoft?s Xbox has always had wonderful graphics, and games like Doom 3 and Halo 2 really show off what the Xbox is capable of. They also announced upgrades to Xbox live, Microsoft?s online gaming service. Nintendo didn't have much new going on either.

Both Microsoft and Nintendo are still working very hard to play catch-up with Sony, but they shouldn't count on this happening very soon because Sony is pulling away fast."

"Several other companies where showing mobile multi-player games."
"isn't quite as easy to play is Game Boy Advanced"
"based on the Simpson's town"
"The Matirx Online".

Okay, technically, that third reason not to worry about Nintendo has nothing to do with either Nintendo or Sony, but you have to ask yourself -- do you want to trust the word of an article written that poorly?  There are many more grammar, spelling, and style errors...I've just given up trying to list them all.

This, on the other hand, looks a bit more professional: http://www.digitalbackspin.com/pspinfo.htm

But I still don't think Nintendo's gonna go from profitable to bankrupt based on one competing product.

I agree, but the reason  I posted the article was to show the new Sony product, not to say that Nintendo is going down. Nintendo has been around for ages and even with a competing product I'm sure they'll be around for a long time after. Activision has done nothing but release software since the Atari 2600 and they're still going strong. No Nintendo isn't going anywhere as far as I'm concerned.

I would not mind a portable Playstation. Being able to play Metal Gear Solid(2/3) on the run would be pretty cool.

The GBC version is nice, but being able to play the 3D version would be better.

FUCK, I just bought a SP. I hope the guy who invented Play Station breaks his leg. Nintendos coming up with a new system in 2005, that will still play cube but will have better games.

Even if you didn't intend it, but what you and ZZT said right before my reply made it sound like you thought Nintendo would be forced out of the console business by this new hand-held.

miscommunication on my part then, sorry. I can see from the article how you might think I meant that, but as my posts only spoke to the new release I didn't bother with the rest. Anyhoo... I'll say again, Nintendo is doing fine from what I can tell.

Why is there such a curfuffle over this anyway?

The damn thing isn't even released yet and we all know that Nintendo won't disappear in the hand-held systems/games market.

satori: *big, pointless explanation that I had thought Nintendo would only release stuff on other platforms over its dead body, and that a suggestion that they do so implied that this new hand-held would bring them to that point*

Still, I would like to see a bunch of the old NES games available on the PC.  I can't afford a new game console, but I can afford the same amount of cash directed towards a bunch of games.

SM: I don't know.  It sounds like it won't even read PS1 or PS2 games.

Maybe because the first iteration will actually be backlit?

while on the nintendo vs. microsoft/sony nintendo is much better.  ever read NPs top 10 list of why nintendos better?  Nintendo shouldn't go out of business because its quality is 50X better than sony and microsoft combined when it comes to video games.  After all nintendo is exclusive to v-games and has been in the business MUCH longer.

And SEGA was too.....but unfortunately, todays market is another. Gamers of today are different.
Put together some cool guy and a shiny grafix-engine with nice eye candys, mix it up with some top-ten music and ultra-violence.... et voila you have a top seller. Even without good gameplay or may without gameplay in general (Postal2).
Thats, what Sony/MS do. Medium quality shit in expensive amount. Thats the money-making-maschine of today.

SEGA R.I.P.
SNK R.I.P.
ATARI R.I.P ....and let them fuckin rest you infogrames assholes
NINTENDO hope you will survive...

I still don't think anyone has said that Nintendo is going out of business.
