I've never owned a console until the current generation (Xbox, Gamecube), but I remember clocking in a lot of time with RC ProAm, Bubble Bobble, and Castlevania. But F-Zero is the one I played the most. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one. My favorite console game ever is Twisted Metal. Twisted Metal Black, however, just doesn't do it for me.

On one hand, I have Rebelstar for the Spectrum (Note: I know spectrum was a 'home computer' but it was usually used as a gaming platform by alot of people)

On the other hand, Metal Gear (for the NES, not the MSX so it counts...   )

Prolly gonna have to say Metal Gear just to abide by the forum

My favorites include:
Commander Keen in Goodbye Galaxy
The Secret of Monkey Island
Space Harrier
Phantasy Star (I only have the first)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Zork
Space Quest
Mortal Kombat

Some of these might not be considered "old school", but several of them are from the 80s.

Shoot, that's just about parallel with mine.

Anything STH
Streets of Rage II
Super Mario Bros. 3
Duck Hunt

Yuji Naka said he really wanted Sonic CD on the mega collection, but it wouldn't fit.

I have my Sonic CD for SEGA CD. Thats enough for me.

Of course, not all Sonic Fans own a SEGA CD. So it would be maybe a good idea for a re-release.

I have Sonic CD for both Sega CD and PC.

I need to get the Japanese version because the US version had different (worse) music.

Indeed. I don't have Sega CD, and the game didn't run right on my emulator. :/

How was the PC version, anyways?

It's god-awful. You should just buy a Sega CD, they're only about $30 and Sonic CD is dirt cheap.

talk about dirt cheap i remember mario 1 / duckhunt combo only being .09 cents back in the mid 1990's....................guess plastic and ROMemory chips came cheaper back then?.....

my fav old school games are:
final fantasy 5 & 6 ...the original bests
super mario, because it had cool new effects and what not
super metroid...none shall ever beat that game
pirates! although ive only ever owned it for PC, i have it for nes emulator which is not really owning it

microsoft flight simulator for dos
...yeah it was great flying over those mountains attacking the little biplanes all with lines and dots.....

hmm....
ptomb! yeah pharoahs tomb
AA! arctic adventure
JMAN! jump man
CK... commander keen
duke nukem 1 & 2

oh wait..consoles
bleh

well, "squidblatt" , fzero 2 came out quite awhile ago...  or is it STILLL in development? hell i dont care, after playing f-zero for a few days i beat it on its hardest levels and literally blew away the competition
i sold that, then a few years later my step mom bought it for me.....i played 1 game
guess what happened?
i played from start to end in one sitting and never lost
sheesh....what an unsophisticated game
simply put: if you put me into a driving game i swear i can beat it
it takes agility, dexterity, and vast attention skills
much like driving, however in real cars on real roads, there are many many more idiots who dont know you know how to and can drive 20000% better than them

There's some new F-Zero coming out soon. Whether it's the second one or not, I'm not sure. I absolutely suck at driving games. Just choosing standard over automatic in the options menu is taking on a major challenge even though I drive a stick in real life.
Anyway, since some of you cheated and listed PC games, I'm going to do the same:

Starflight
Wizardry
All Infocom games
Elvira (this was surprisingly good and creepy)
Wasteland and both Fallouts
Tongue of the Fatman
Empire (best PC strategy game ever)
Ancient Art of War
Most Sierra adventure games
Pool of Radiance
Archon
One on One
Pirates, Sword of the Samurai, Civilization, Railroad Tycoon,
Bard' Tale, Might & Magic, Baldur's Gate, Daggerfall
