I think for characters for state-of-the-art game technology you can safely go up to 3500 faces.

3500 has got to be right at least as far as some of these new console games look.  I've been watching the reviews of the newer games on G4 and some of the characters are looking almost real!  I'm fascinated by how the hair moves and curious as to how they do that.  Anyone know?
