Hi,

As you can tell, I don't post much around here, I just lurk in the shadows reading everyone else's posts...  wait, that doesn't sound good; I swear, I'm not a stalker

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody here going to the Game Developer's Conference in San Jose this year.

Due to scheduling conflicts I could not make it last year and missed the time John and Monkeystone show up. Figures...

Speaking of which, John, any chance that you'll attend this year?

I'd love to, but I don't have the $1500 at least dollars it'd take. I have a few friends going, and I'm pretty sure John's going.

Ouch... that's right, I hadn't taken into account the whole "travel to another country" cost.  That sucks.

It would be cool if a few of us could make it, maybe we could meet up and even meet The Man himself.

And slip, about the 350Z?  You sir, have style.

I'm NZ, slip's in Au - we're basically at the arse-end of the world relative to GDC. I went to AGDC, which rocked, and one day I will make GDC, but not this year, unless we win Lotto or something.

speaking of New Zealand and Australia, when I get a glimpse of Neighbours and Home & Away, most of the girls are very hot!    and for some reason all the surfer guys are blonde

Most surfers do end up with blond streaks after a while in NZ, because the UV radiation is so horrific. We're right under a hole in the ozone layer.

As for hotness, I think Australia has a lot of very glamourous women, and both countries probably have the same level of hotness as other countries. That said I don't think obesity is such a problem down in Australasia as it is in the northern hemisphere.

Bear in mind that actors with good looks are more likely to get cast often, especially in soaps.

edit: Did you know that Kylie Minogue started out on Neighbours?

GDC is my favorite "video game summit" of the entire year. I look forward to it every year and follow it religiously. GDC is about developers discussing ideas and theories about the future of video games. E3 is about showing off your products in the most flashy way possible. I love GDC because of the insight it gives into the industry, and the collection of great minds who arrive there. I would love to go one day.

I'm lucky because this summer a european computer graphics conference (i don't think that it is EUROGRAPH - maybe something smaller) will held in Crete, so it will cost me only a little to go there 8-D.
