Those games are The Sims 2 and Call of Duty United Offensive.

As ironic as it may seem, both got 8.9 on Gamespot.com - the exact same score, hehe, but hey, at least that means both are gonna be great games!

 :)

The Sims 2 - Great new 3d engine, new "memory" system, new "relationship" system, sims now grow older, and many new features.

COD United Offensive - New single-player campaign, HUGE multiplayer mode now with DRIVABLE vehicles such as tanks, jeeps, etc. that closely resembles the Battlefield series, many other features.

I'm not for sure what to get first........but money-wise, I may just get Call of Duty, since I got tired of the first Sims game after just like 10 minutes and the Sims 2 seems like it is, overall, the same game with just a few twists and turns here and there.

Anyone else gonna pick up one - or possibly even both - of these awesome new games?

Man, this is gonna be an exciting end-of-the-year for gaming!

November is probably gonna be the top month, though.

Ok, enough rambling - go out and get one or both of those great games!!!!!!   8)

I think I had my fill of the Sims for a decade or so. Then it may feel new.

Haha, I agree that the Sims is getting a bit stale.

I personally dont think it will sale near as well as everyone thinks it will - especially after milking out 5+ expansion packs.  (I think there were that many).

sims 2 didn't feel that new to me... sure the extra stuff is in their... but i guess i just don't have the right mindset for it. i can't bring myself to fuck up the lives of my sims, so i just play them sensibly and it all gets very boring fast. the new stuff, what i saw of it at least kept me interested for about 3 hours. still, hopefully my wife will get some enjoyment out of it, cause i hate trying to take a game back, and it was really her that was more interested.

i am so bored of WWII games that i struggle to sit down and play the praised ones. I didn't much rate Return to Castle Wolfenstein's single player campaign, so I'm not rushing to play another WWII game designed by the same team (as this add on is).

Call of Duty... the demos were fairly impressive, especially in a scale and audio way, but i didn't buy the full cause... been there and done it. i don't really care what little improvements were made or how polished it is... i'm just WWII saturated.

there are many great games on the way, but for me... these two leave me cold. never liked add on packs either.

Once I got bored with torturing my Sims I uninstalled the game, put it away, and haven't touched it since. That was over four years ago. I just don't get the appeal  :?:

You've played The Sims 2 !!??  If so, what was it like - and was much improved from the original game?

Oh, and that comment about Return to Castle Wolfenstein - I TOTALLY AGREE, How in the hell did people like that game?

OMG it was so crappy, and I thought the game engine just SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED and SUCKEDDDDD!

yeah it came out a few days ago.

i wasn't really impressed. the 3d engine is nice and all but you play the game the same way. most of the changes are in the sims themselves, and i got bored before i really got to see them showing memories. like i said, i don't have the mindset to torture them, so once my family got content... there isn't much effort involved in keeping them that way.

you're better asking someone who played the original for more than two days... or reading some of the glowing reviews.

part of the problem is that it's the type of game you have to invest time in to get something out of it, and with Burnout 3 in my X-Box, which is the kind of game you get instant and lasting gratification from, the Sims 2 was never going to get much attention. hope my wife enjoys it like i said before, so i haven't wasted money on it.

ya, ww2 games are a little over done, but you can understand the appeal of the subject matter. The enemy is theoretically Nazis,  and who doesn't like putting a cap in a cyber Nazi. Still, it's over done and I really enjoyed this WW1 budget tittle that just came out:

Haha, agreed.  :)

Another game that is so close to release that I'm about to die of anticipation is Star Wars Battlegrounds.

SW Battlegrounds = BF 1942 , XBOX version.  ;)
