Hey guys,

I'm really desperate to learn BUILD. I need to know a list of utilities, books, ANYTHING, to get me started with programming this engine. I want to learn how to program/compile BUILD, I haven't had much proggy experience in the past (except with VB) so I would be very appreciative if you guys gave me a list of utlities, books, programs...everything I need to know. I want to learn BUILD over the summer, and I think it'd be a very educational and a great way to spend my time.

So can you guys help me out?

The engine Duke Nukem, Blood, and Shadow Warrior were based off on. It's an older 1996 engine...

I wouldn't bother with it. I'd rather learn OpenGL if I were you.

Corbin, you might want to use Ryan Gordon's (icculus) port of BUILD to Windows / Linux / DOS4GW.

http://icculus.org/BUILD/

I tried hacking it a while ago. The code is kinda spaghettish and badly documented. I had some issues compiling the engine (Watcom / Gcc). Rendering, sound and input use SDL.

It could use an OpenGL renderer.
