Just downloaded and played Dangerous Dave in the Deserted Pirates Hideout.  It's my first time actually getting to play it.  Thanks for the release!  Also, thanks for the code breakdown in the games section, John.

I'm having trouble on level 3 with the scrolling ... there's a portion where you have to jump to scroll the screen, but there are three of those weeds to clear.  The problem is that the scrolling effect takes away your momentum and drops Dave right on the weeds!  Any suggestions?

edit ::
Nevermind, I cleared it.  You have to stand really close so the screen scrolls, then do a leap of faith.  I'm a lot better at it since I switched from keyboard to my sidewinder gamepad.

Yeah I died on the three weeds, and the second level is just strange :P

Yesterday I got to level 4, but then I still had my jetpack from level 3 and I got stuck in the wall at the beginning of the level.

Today I got to level 5 and I tried to go to the warp level, just like in the PC version, but I couldn't get high enough in the tree and then I quited, because I got something else to do.

Does someone know an Apple II emulator that supports save states? Otherwise Dangerous Dave is really hard.

edit:Nevermind, I already found one.

I just want to be hardcore enough to beat it, capture some screens and send 'em to John.

I got to level 6, I got the trophy but I fell in the water on my way to the exit. I didn't die, but when I tried to get out of the water I fell right back in and this time it did kill me.

I tried to make a screenshot of the end of level 5, but I only got a black screen.

I tried to go to the warp level in level 5, just like in the PC version, but is there really a warp zone in the Apple II version?

I was also good friends with Lane Roathe and wrote "Special thanks to Lane Roath for his creative efforts and ideas". Lane and I co-founded Ideas From The Deep in 1989 and wrote some games with IFD. I got Lane to work at Inside-Out Software with me and I'd show him my progress on the game and he'd give me feedback.

That's funny. Lane gave you feedback on the game and you didn't spell his name right in the game.

Atleast it's not as dumb as spelling your own name wrong in your own game like George Broussard and Pharaoh's Tomb.

AHA, actually, YOU don't understand: Lane changed the spelling of his last name several years ago.  Decided to add an 'e' at the end. :)
