Me and my friends always referred to it as I.D. also. wasnt until i heard an outsider reffer to it as "id" as in one word. i then thought to myself that it sounded too right to be wrong then realised i had just been "pwned" after all those years lol..

I called it "Eye Dee" when Wolf3d first came out, then while ordering Doom through them I realized it was prenounced "Ehid" and have been calling it that ever since.

Uh it's id.  "Ihd."  I thought that since the guys from id call it that, it's called that on tv, and mainstream journalists never refer to it as "I.D." or "ID," but do refer to it as "id," and that id's own press release statement explains that it is "id" after Frued's term -- people would've taken the hint by now.

I've never seen id Software featured on CNN, but apparently you have.
