No Romero's games there. Most of them are simple text-based games. Now my quest is to look for some Apple II classics like Ultima and king's quests.

Oh man, I used to play on those back in first grade!  I LOVED IT!

AND THAT WAS 1995 - I ALREADY OWNED A SEGA GENESIS AND OUR FAMILY'S DELL DIMENSION P75t!

I'd get one but I just invested in a 486  :D .  The time will come...

Remember the LED on the keyboard that would burn you if you touched it?  And how the keyboard clicked?  And how the IIgs had those weird, two-stepped keys and the same processor as the SNES?

I LOVE VINTAGE HARDWARE  :D .

I just bought an Apple IIe today on eBay too. It only cost me $26.99, but the S&H is pretty expensive. It is well worth it though.

I'm interested, what montior are you going to plug it into and how.... or did it come with one. That I remember the monitor was a pain in the butt to get. We had a 5 inch or so green screen

Here are the exact specs.

Apple IIe Computer Model A2S2064 with 64K Memory Expansion Card, Super Serial Card II, and 5.25" Controller Card

Apple IIe Monochrome Monitor Model A2M6017

2 Apple 5.25" Floppy Drives Model A9M0107

Not bad for only $26.99.

I'm pretty sure you can just use a tv for a monitor.

I was never lucky enoguh to have a Apple II. Had some 386, though I remeber my dad had some old computer, called TRASH or something. All I remeber is he would plug it into the tv and green text would go buy. A prompt I guess. Also had a cartrage with some super guy on it.

yes you can do that, but you need an RF modulator. They' considerably cheaper than they were when the Apple first came out so yes, that is an option now. Still, I think the screen will look like crap if you use a TV. probably ok for gaming, it would be pretty ugly to do any sort of text based work.

Nice purchase, TheProgrammer. Congratulations. May your new IIe serve you very well.

I personally started out with the Apple //c, back in 1987. Since, I have owned and used just about every model of the Apple II - the original, the ][+, the IIe, IIe+, IIe Platinum, IIgs, //c Plus, etc., as well as several clones. To this day, the original //c is still my absolute favorite. It does lack the expansion ports found in the "non-portable" Apple II's, however, so it can't touch down on 100% of the features available, but overall its compact, sleek design and excellent operation are what keep me coming back again and again. I still own that very same Apple //c that I started out with, and I get very sentimental each time I turn it on and hear the "Apple beep".

It's especially nice to hear of people picking up Apple IIs and playing around with them. I've nothing really strong against emulation, but the real thing is the real thing. Standing over an authentic Apple computer and powering it on is a lot different, both in method and in experience, than starting up a program that emulates the machine.

Apple II - truly forever. One of the best products ever to come out of the American market.
