Drank to much rum last night. stopped at 12:30 am and still feeling sick. Every time I would stand up I would vomit. The only thing I could keep down was a bowl of corn flakes.

Random fact:

Played the XBOX 360 at WalMart today.

They had three demos - Call of Duty, King Kong, and Kameo.

Call of Duty[/i] - If you've played the PC demo, then you've basically played the XBOX 360 demo that was up for grabs.  There was literally nothing new about this game, so it was "been there, done that" for me.  I was very impressed by how clear and how smooth the game was, but since it was running on an High-Definition television, that probably contributed alot to the crispness of it all.  Still, the game never slowed down and so that was nice to see.

------------------

King Kong[/i] - Only one thing to say about this game.  How the HELL could the developers go so far and ruin such great potential?

No, I'm not talking about the gameplay.  I'm talking about the visuals.

The muddy ground, the rain, and everything about the place looks SO much more detailed than what the PC demo had to offer (Yes, it's the same level, etc.).

BUT.... I noticed something was wrong.... literally everything in the game was absolutely smothered with jagged lines.  The characters?  Jaggy.  The T-rex?  Jaggy.  The walls and weapons?  Jaggy.

My dad is a 40+ year old non-gamer and he even noticed this problem..

The only thing that looked good was the ground texture that really looked like mud should look, and the rain effects are unrivaled as of now.

As for the gameplay, it's the same as the PC version; distract the T-rex with spears while your two partners struggle to open the gate... then once they open it, run for your life through the gate, turn around and watch the T-rex shred open the wall, run some more, hide in the small opening until the demo ends, bam, it's over.

The King Kong segment was the same way.  Lots of jaggies, but offering much more fun than the on-foot FPS sequence.

This will be a great game when it's released, but man.. they really need to throw in some anti-aliasing in there if they want the game to look spectacular.

------------------

Kameo[/i] - Just as I expected, this game looked nice visually.  Lots of jaggies as well?  Yes.  But overall, the game looked and played very impressive.

The level appeared to be a castle-type setting with these green goblin creatures attacking both on-foot and by shooting fireballs out of cannons.

There were 3 creatures to morph into - an armadillo, which had a speed charge-up much like Sonic (Stage-it will like this feature), an ice gorilla that could throw ice spears (it went into an over-the-shoulder view when throwing them, which was a neat touch) and that could pick up and launch enemies or even use them as clubs (hahaha, loved that part as well), and a plant that could punch enemies - with its boxing gloves (I've yet to figure out how anyone could think of putting boxing gloves on a plant, but hey, gotta try something new, right?  It's next-gen after all!)

One of the visual effects that really made me go "Holy crap!" was the added effect of offset-mapping.

This is the type of effect that makes textures "pop out" so much that it looks as if you could reach out and really touch them.  It gives depth to textures, and allows things such as brick walls to appear as individual bricks pieced together instead of a single flat texture stretched out.

The characters were also greatly detailed, and despite some jaggies on the characters (Where's the AA, guys?), the environments and enemies all looked very impressive.

At one point a red dragon was carrying two of the green goblins on its back... and my brother was like "This isn't real gameplay, this is just a cinematic", and I was like "No man, this is really it... watch".  Shortly after, the dragon swooped down, the two goblins jumped off and landed, and suddenly... we resumed control of the character, and everything looked the same - going far enough to prove that it was all real-time.  This was definetely the second most impressive thing besides the offset mapping being used.

---

Overall my experience with the XBOX 360 was pretty good.  The controller - although smaller than the Controller S (Yes, SMALLER) - was pretty comfortable and actually seemed to be a bit more responsive and smoother than the Controller S for the original XBOX.

If the developers can start adding some AA to their games - or if they've already added it to them - you can start expecting some amazing visuals along with amazingly smooth frame rates.

Call of Duty 2 and King Kong were probably the most unimpressive and just screamed "PC VISUALS!" to me, but Kameo was definetely the most impressive of the three.  Sure, there may be some PC games out there that happen to look better, but the offset mapping and detail in the characters really surpasses anything else I've seen in a PC game when speaking visually.

The XBOX 360 should be awesome... I'm having a tough time imagining how good Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing 3, and Elder Scrolls Oblivion are going to be.

Today has been pretty flippin' awesome. No work, got my check, went out with Melissa again, saw a kickass movie, saw a play at a college (really weird, but whatever), and I smashed my high score on Tetris on my calculator, which was impossible for everyone else at school to even reach before. Yay!

Tomorrow, I take the SAT at 8:00 sharp. No me gusta.

Congratulations. I am bored, sick and happy. Finally heard from my boyfriend. My sinuses are kicking my ass. I was proud of myself today, this one guy in marching band was standing way too close to me and he wouldn't leave me alone so I bagged him.

Go watch A History of Violence. It'll get you back to your old karate-choppin' self in no time.

Right...and today's random fact: Never buy a knock off of a name brand sinus medicine they don't work. And i have to play my flute at my old church tomorrow in front of my entire family while I have sinus problems.
