That type of keyboard will find very little support for anything but uses where it's too hard to bring a normal one. Modern keyboards are very very nice to use compared with the old ones and nobody's going to find reason to switch to an optical one.

I could think of a couple of apps that it would be useful such as low transmission of disease. When there are all these super viruses going around it would be much easier to wash a plane surface than clean a keyboard. What about working in an extrememly dusty or dirty environment such as a wood shop or plaster factory... a keyboard of light would not suffer the same degeration that a regular keyboard would suffer. The image shown here is quite portable and would be great for a palm.
I doubt it would take over the keyboard industry, but I don't think that it's without merit.
