I find it strange how it is possible to still pick up a copy of DOOM(updated to run on modern machines) from the shops,  but not QUAKE.

Are there any plans at all to rerelease QUAKE at all?

The Quake Box set was very short lived. I'd like to see a Quake anthology pack so I can get hard copies of the addons. And they never updated Doom for xp. They still package it with the Doom 95 launcher.

Quake already has a re-issue release dated June 2001. It comes with WinQuake and GLQuake (as well as the original dos executables, and some q3a promo crap)

Re: Malchik.

I didn't know it was still using the Win95 launcher.  For some reason I can't get the mouse to work when running it on my XP machine!

You should try using more modern source ports.

It would be really nice if they'd take the Doom 3 engine and re-release the original Quake single player game.

id couldn't set the mood of the original Quake. Frankly I think Quake was a huge mistake. They got a great, spooky, satanic game with what ever they had available and actually pulled it off.

It’s like an overly hyped movie that was thrown together at the last min and functioned. Doom 3 reminds me of Quake. So many promises and at the end most of it was dropped and they used what was available. The only thing Quake had more atmospheres.

Runs at a full 100 fps without drops @ 1600x1200 for me.  Seems fast enough even with the fancy 3D Models.

In your opinion... Which is fine, I just don't agree, I really enjoyed the original game and continue to play the single player from time to time.

Did I say I didn't like Quake? I just made a paragraph saying I did. I mean id can't make another Quake and possibly even closely emulate it. Look at Quake 4 and Doom 3 for example.

I'm talking about id can't do a Quake re-make justice. I was backing up my statement with Doom 3 and Quake 4. Does Doom 3 continue Dooms fast pace, action and atmosphere? Does Quake 4 contain the feeling of Quake 2?
