This isn't a concern over RPG's or Japanese content.  The 360 has plenty of Japanese developers onboard because these devs look at the U.S.A., and all they see is "Ka-Ching!  Ka-Ching!"

Why isn't the 360 selling?  Because we made it.  The fucking "Roundeyed Americans," that's why.  The Japs just buy their own shit because they are convinced it is better, hence why so many people own low end Sony Vaio laptops as opposed to low end Compaq/HP laptops (Which are far superior).  Same with iPods vs. Sony player crap.

They just love supporting their own crippled economy as opposed to ours.  Sega was run by mostly Americans during the Saturn, but they didn't care, "VIRTUA FIGHTER, LOL!" plus the company was located in Japan.  The Saturn sold like hotcakes up until FFVII.

And Final Fantasy 7 had little impact on PS1 sales in the states.

It doesn't matter if they 360 has an awesome fucking library, it's American, they won't buy it.

I was just stating fact what the arguments was against the Xbox. Microsoft want their consoles to sell in Japan and only creating games that appeal to the Western market won't sell consoles in Japan, maybe in USA and Europe but not that much in Japan. So if you want to play that douchebag plumber with the       moustache and the hedgehog that doesn't even look like one, who am I to stop you. Shit I can't believe people go on about consoles released hundreds of years ago the world changes it moves on from the time when plumbers where 3 pixels on your television screen and some people played that gay Sonic the hedgehog game, which has now turned into a smart cash in strategy by SEGA because they cannot make any impact on the games anymore.

You know what?  I barely had any respect for you before, but now I have zero.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions - but not Schitzophrenics.

You just called the classic Mario and Sonic games crap.  Which makes you the only gamer I've ever known who actually dislikes them.  No, hates them.

You don't even fucking like action games.  How the fuck did you end up on Romero's forum?  Holy shit kid...

There are many tallies I have against you, but this one is the diagonal strike.

And FYI the world HASN'T changed, God damn it.  Since you obviously have no clue about game design, here is what Sonic and Mario are:

Easy to learn, hard to master games that appeal to a broad audience.  Games that suck players in, even at the store trying them out.  Games that are critically acclaimed by the press and even those who play them for five minutes.

That my friend, is what makes a killer app, regardless of graphics.  It doesn't matter if Mario is "Three pixels high" (He's not), it matters as to player experience, something that can be universally applied today.

Nothing changed, no one has tried since.
You know you've been an annoying bitch ever since I've been part of the forums. Not everyone has to like Mario and Sonic, Mario and Sonic are like most of the other Nintendo crap, designed to be played by kids. It's just as good you made a Barnie or a Telletubbies game, because that should appeal  to the same audience. Since when don't I like action games? I mainly play First Person Shooters, F.E.A.R., WOLFENSTEIN, DOOM, QUAKE, HERETIC, HEXEN, BLOOD, NOLF, DEUS EX, GTA(Yeah it's not an FPS), DUKE, and THIEF those are the games I like playing. I'm a big Romero fan the guy has done more for the games industry than anyone has ever given him credit for. I even liked Daikatana, I loved the story and having a more complex game.

I want to play  games that I'm not embarrassed to play. I find playing a blue hedgehog a little bit demeaning. You are the only kid here because you play kiddies games, go back to your mommy.
I don't find it fun to make the character on the screen pick up a bunch of rings, and I don't find it fun to play as a plumber who has to jump against bricks to get coins.

I have to be honest Commander Keen didn't make me an ID software fan, Wolfenstein 3D did.

The world do change and if you didn't figure that one out you're an idiot. Again I'll repeat to the beautifully blue painted wall that arguments made against the Xbox wasn't my arguments, but the arguments of Gamespot, IGN, etc. At least the wall can't return with an unenlightened reply. A nice example of the world changing was, just after Quake in 1996 the world loved Romero, after and during Daikatana the world started to hate Romero, he turned from rockstar to joke, in the eyes of many gamers. The only thing that never changes is the release date of Duke Nukem Forever.

Dude, I play those 'kid games' too. A lot of people here do. Actually, little kids pretty much play games, regardless of the genre / theme. And there's more than a way to see it. In highschool, a lot of my classmates played Counter-Strike, and for example I found that to be pretty childish because I find that game very easy to master, extremely repetitive, shallow, boring and stupid, a typical bad American product. And if I wanted to play Sonic or Mario I'd just let them know that they can laugh because they can't master any of those games, as childish as they are. A lot of little kids also can't really master Super Mario Bros or Sonic, they lack the dexterity not to mention general knowledge of gameplay tricks.

Besides, if you think that playing games, any kind of games, isn't the least childish, you've got some issues. If you want to do something that isn't meant for little kids, do some work. I don't know what IGN or GameSpot say but both names remind me of fat boring balding business men trying bullshit their way through the gaming "industry".

I'll rather listen to Gamespot & IGN trying to bullshit their way in the how do you say game "industry" than read the bullshit written by someone who wants to play games for kids. Seriously if all games were made for kids, why do you get mature and adult only rated games? ;) I never liked Counter-Strike. Seriously if you don't want to get someone else's point you won't get it. I'm not going to reply to this thread again because it's just going to waste more of my time.

I was expecting you to say something ignorant like that.  I'm sure you know why games are "rated", it's for people to know what kind of games they're buying (if they've got mature content or not, because some people think children cannot distinguish between cartoons rendered on the screen and real life).
When you're saying that i said "games were made for kids" you're basically telling that games were only made for kids, which is not something I would say. I said that "playing", literally any game, is more or less a childish act. It doesn't matter what game you're playing, you're doing the same thing most children do before they start walking, and after. You're moving around depictions of objects, people or animals on the screen, or answering questions in text puzzles, "talking" to characters. Regardless if content is sex, violence, bad language, or not, the video game is very much like any child's game. It doesn't take "mature" skills to shoot someone in a FPS. You can keep thinking about them as kiddie games and mature or "adult" games because you're probably got some issues, because a lot of people wouldn't worry so much about that. If you want some "serious" games, there aren't any. Games aren't serious no matter how you look at it - all the games you listed there are more or less romantic fairy tales, which most people read when they are little children themselves. If you want seriousness, go outside, do some work. I don't know if life gets more mature than that. If you're looking for great FPS experiences, join the army, you'll be firing real weapons instead of playing with digitally rendered ones on the computer screen.

I gave Counter-Strike as an example of a way to see "childish games", trying to prove that there's more than a way to see the problem, and that the expression "kid games" or "childish games" needs desambiguation because it may not mean for everyone what it means for you.
Also, I don't "want to play games for kids". I don't "want to play games for adults" either. I just want to play games, simply put.

Listen Dvaan, (dude, this was gross --Riz)

It's great to know you don't play the 2D Sonic or Mario games to be "cool," even though every cool kid I've ever known thinks these games rule.

Your definition of "cool" includes people who feel walking around in all metrosexual Final Fantasy cosplay in NYC makes them look "awesome," all the while debating beastiality movies on Germany.com.

And as for you calling me a "loon" half a year back with my Isotope Start-Up Plan, I don't see how modernizing and modifying the 1993 id Software Doom viral marketing plan for use with modern technology is loony.

You don't know nothing about me, and your post again shows ignorance to what I said earlier. I never said I'm the world's biggest Final Fantasy fan, I haven't even played a lot of the Final Fantasy games, anime meets turn based rpg has never been my scene, because I am mostly a PC gamer. You took my argument in the firstt place totally out of context, I meant that the arguments raised against the (not by me, but by the games media, Gamespot, IGN, (old tv program long time ago) Cybernet, etc.) Xbox was that it was released after the PS2 and therefore the PS2 had more games on it than the Xbox when the Xbox was released, the other one that started this whole argument was the one that were they said that the Xbox didn't have enough Japanese RPGs (With that was meant turn based anime fanboy RPGs like Final Fantasy). I went further and said that the Xbox 360 doesn't have these problems. BTW NY smells like piss and I never said the words cool or metrosexual, the only person whom I can remember to be metrosexual on these forums are Corbin and him and you love SEGA. BTW Quake III isn't modern technology. If you had actual gameplay footage and shown me that you actually can develop a game and that you actually have a team who are willing to work for nothing, then even with your comments that may be seen as offensive, I might have said that I believe you'd make a game.

The thing is in this day and age is, some people has cool ideas for games, but they aren't able and don't have people who are able to develop games. John Carmack once said something along the lines of "it's much harder to develop a game than it seems".

I wasn't the only one who thought you were a loon, have you ever read what you wrote there. It seemed more like some kind of parody.

I've never been cool my whole life, and I don't really give a shit about cool people. The cool people I know from school has done nothing with their lives and will never, they party daily and don't know the meaning of hard work. As for jobs, I actually have one, I'm a radiation protection officer half-time and a university student that other half of the day. So I have to make time to actually visit forums if I want to.

The only thing is you are still feeling hurt because I didn't like you isotope start up plan, you know I believe in start up plans of people who has been credited for actually working on a real game, and then it isn't going to be a booming success, because anything can still go wrong. You actually have to make a great game to have a success, a game that people want to play.

This is an actual quote from your start up plan, and you think this is going to sell games?

Seriously dude if you were serious about game development you would've developed something by now, even if it was a game using game maker. Everybody has an opinion and not two people in thhe world has exactly the same one, so you are entitled to have your opinion and I am entitled to have mine. Nothing would get me playing Mario and Sonic, btw have you ever noticed how Nintendo milk a franchise? They create more Mario games than there are Tomb Raider games.

Shareware is actually still an interesting idea for new and upcoming developers.

I don't see what's so bad about that.

Personally, I think the FPF genre is the next big genre.  First Person Fondlers will bridge the gap between so many genres that its destined to succeed.

Imagine what you could do with the genre and the Wii!  The Wii cries out for FPF games.

I love how Dvaan took features that he felt were "serious" when they are humerous, non-existing, and meant to help sell the product humorwise.

There will be no "SuperBreast" technology, and there will be no "fucking."

Even TBGOAT has class.

if the main hero does not have at least 2 big spikes on the design then it sucks.

that's pretty much true for every non-mario.
