In the original Dangerous Dave game for the PC, of course, there are warp zones in levels 5, 8, 9, and 10.  However, I believe there is also a warp zone in level 6!  Here is how you find it:  Get the jet pack and go to the door without the trophy.  You'll fly right through the door!  Then move to the left and over the top.

The computer locks up when you get to that warp zone but the computer is not totally locked up!  I waited about 30 to 40 minutes and the computer was no longer locked up!  However, the pieces on the screen are NOT what they appear to be and you can die easily.  But don't give up, I got out!  I simply used the trainer available for this game that gives you unlimited fuel for your jet pack!  I flied above everything and got out of the warp zone!  It must be a legitimate warp zone because you can't get into it a second time.  Perhaps the level 6 warp zone works better on certain computers or maybe Romero just didn't quite finish that part.

BUT, there IS a level 6 warp zone and you CAN get out of it!

I just discovered a better alternative to waiting 30 to 40 minutes for the computer to no longer lock up in the level 6 warp zone.  I simply pressed the Windows key then went back to the game at the tab at the bottom of the desktop.  It was no longer locked up and then I flew above the level to the right until I saw two trophies side-by-side.  I landed the jetpack on top of those two trophies and was out of the warp zone!

actually no. there is no warp zone in level 6. problem is that the game tries to read the level data from who-knows-where in the memory, so you get garbage instead of a proper level layout. and the game at the end states something like "hey there are warp zones in levels 5, 8, 9, 10".

there is a cool bug in level 6. get jetpack but do not get the trophy, fly through the exit door and instead of going to the left go right but don't fall into the gap which separates actual level 6 and the warp zone from level 8 (which is full of crowns and sceptres). there is no blocking and the game thinks that you're still in the level 6 basically so you can get trophy there and go to the exit door of that zone and game will send you further to level 7. using this bug you can get shitload of scores very early - 99999.

enjoy.

There is no "official" warp zone for level 6 but you can still get out of that area.  And if you get out, you can no longer get back into it, just like other warp zones.  So, though it is not an official warp zone, or a finished warp zone, it can operate like a warp zone.

When you fly over it, it resembles the layout of level 8.

True.  Perhaps Romero will comment on this sometime.  I'm guessing that he just didn't seal off the left top of level 6 and it opened up a warp zone routine.  Or, he may have started a warp zone there and just didn't totally finish it up.  But at least you can fly out of that weird looking level six warp zone and continue on!

That is a neat way to get more points.  Perhaps Romero meant to seal off the top right of level 6 too!

I think that Romero thought that nobody would try to go thru the door without the trophy.
