I have setup a game-server for Daikatana in Europe.

It is running on an old P3 1 GHz with 384 MB ram. The PC is running 4 game-servers as a service on windowsXP and is automatically reboot daily.

If you like to add the server to Qtracker (free game-browser) you can use the following DNS name and query ports:

daikatana.game-server.cc  --  running on query port 27982 , 27985 , 27987 and 27989

The server does not respond on ping as it is running behind my router (on a 2048/512 bps connection).

Any wishes or requests are welcome

Have fun.

Mammut's 4 deathmatch servers are down due to him relocating I believe, and will be down for about 2 weeks.

Would anyone mind hosting another server in Europe or USA during that period of time? It's just to cover bases (especially Europe, where most of the players appear to come from) as there still is a steady stream of deathmatchers from the DKDM release wave.

I'd host one (and I used to), but:
1). I live in Australia and people in Europe get 400+ pings, and
2). My internet connection is pretty dodgy right now for some reason - more than the occasional dropout

For help how to set up a dedicated server, check out http://daikatananews.net/dedserver.html.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing.

I have added a server, I can't see it in my own ingame browser so I dont know if I did it right. I am located in the United States, so it should be a bit faster for Europe. If anyone has a config to give me, send it along and Ill just open the ports you say to and we can have a box here for a few weeks.

Thanks for putting up the server, Madcow. Much appreciated, not just by me, but I'm sure by many others. I can see your server and can connect to it fine through Qtracker and the in-game browser, so everything looks fine there.

For those who use Qtracker, add the following server to your lists:
75.15.116.185:27982

Here are some server configs I got from DaikatanaNews or PlanetDaikatana not long ago, but I can't find the link anymore:
http://rapidshare.com/files/41482744/servercfgs.zip.html

Hope that helps.

Edit: It's up to you, but I recommend turning off the most powerful weapon in each episode (i.e Shockwave, Eye of Zeus, Nharre's Nightmare, and Metamaser). Check the link in my previous post for an explanation on how that works

Edit edit: Also, can you reduce the frag limit to say 20 or so? 50 is a little high IMO. Time limit of 20 mins is fine as it is though.

It should be better now, but the other servers are back so I am not sure how often mine will be up. I don't use my windows machine very often, so it is normally off. I do like having a server of smaller maps for when there are only 3 people online. Gibbler is just too damn big for anyhting but a busy server.

Someday I should experiment with running the DKServer under wine in linux.

It may be a simple mistake, but you have a max of 20 players on your server. That's potentially a very busy SS7 Original. :P
Odd how the servers came back so soon since I've been told the Euro servers will go down for a 2 week period, but it's nice to know there's another person willing to host out there. Thanks again.

I've tried. WINE being what WINE is, it unfortunately emulates server crashes too. But it does work - I was hosting my server at a point in time using WINE on a Ubuntu installation.

The server will be moved on the 23 July and hopefully up running again the 26 July. ( If the internet connection is up and running )

The good news is that the server will be running on a 10 MB up and down fiber connection, but it will move with me to Stavanger in Norway, so a bit further away from central Europe.

I'm using Linux as my favorite OS and Daikatana does runs fine using wine :)  .  The server is however still running on windows

The European servers are down now (for real this time), so if madcow or anyone else would like to host a server, nows the best time to do it.

The server is up again :)

My router lost all setting during my move to Norway :(

So I had to set it all up again - Let me know if you get any problems with the server/router.

Yes - I noticed from work that I could not login, eventhrough the port should have been open. I'll check the router settings again tonight.

          -   Should be okay now :)

Nice, they are my preferred choices when i will let out some aggression from trying to unsolve the mysteries of "THE dkdata-tool". It's not the same as using a toothpick without a manual. That's for sure.....

My good old router is dying on me (linksys wrt54gs, running DD-wrt), so the daikatana game server have been on and off the last week.

I have ordered a new router (D-link 4300), and it will be up and running from monday the 21 january.

Thereafter I expect the Daikatana servers to be running 24/7 again.

Have fun.
