This is a thread where you should post your gamedev stuff :-). After seeing that Chubz posted a game of his in the "random incident/fact" thread i thought that it would be a nice idea to make a post about game related stuff people are making.

So post them here and if you can, please also post screenshots and download links. If you have YouTube videos, that would be a nice plus too :-).

(ps. Chubz your game is good, btw, i liked the walking animation - although the character should be a little faster)

EDIT: also if you want to get comments, in order to not mess this thread, please make another thread for your game in this forum (if it's under development) or the game related discussion (general discussion might be another good idea, but it's too ... general - not that there are loads of new posts here everyday that we need to keep a tight order, but it's nice to have things in the right places :-)) and then provide a link to your post here.

To start with an example:

I made this little platform game called Nikwi which you can find in this page. It runs on Windows and Linux, with binaries provided, and the complete source code under GPL is provided. The art files are also available for free (no GPL), so people can use them in their own games, commercial or not.

A small screenshot is here, click for more screenshots:

Downloads:
Here is the windows version installer (985kb)
Here is a windows bundle (920kb) which runs immediately.
Here are the Linux binaries (873kb)
Here are the sources, including art, etc.
Here is the game art archive only, which you can use in your own games.

If you have any comments, here is the thread in these boards for Nikwi.

The source code if this post is attached. Modify it for your game and post it :-).

Here's my remake of Number Munchers that I created in C when I was 15 years old.

Interesting thread.  Heres a game I made awhile back, and one I play every so often as CAPCOM's Forgotten Worlds was one of a kind and it's difficult to get a multi-directional fix...

The game crashes on me shortly after displaying the loading screen at 100%.

Riz, I'm going to take a wild guess and say you have a nividia graphics card.  Yup, I had a Geforce FX5200 but updated the driver to make Doom3 run better.  But by doing so my game will now crash after loading.  It tells me its something to do with the graphics though I have no idea what that may be.  Used DirectX7, but have thought about updating it to use DirectX9...I should really do an update.

Grrr....played for three hours and I still can't get through the mine field. Cool arcade game tho and the plot intrigues me. I gotta get out of post mode and into code mode tho, so I can put something up in this thread.

LOL - yeah, the mine-field is a bitch.

The trick is to ignore the red-masks and focus on clearing the mine field. The Red-masks will slow right down when you get close and orbit them...once you clear the field, you can enter the weapons shop! Hurrah!

I do concour that its a ultra-difficult game...maybe too much for...THE ROMERO?  MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!  I Challenge you Akito Tenkawa! ^_^

New version of Tic-Tac-Scratch is up, mostly rewritten due to a disk crash. Tic-Tac-Scratch homepage follows:

I'm having an insanely hard time keeping up with any projects.  Mainly I've been making crappy little "game demo" type things. T-T
I'm a lot better at making the games/screenshots look nice than actually making them play nice. >.>;

Cow Sploder

A game I made with Visual Basic using winsock support.  Connect to a friend and play a little "strategy game" of exploding cows (the one you explode also explodes the eight surrounding cows).

Quix Attax

A four player/one keyboard (or four joysticks, not sure if it works, though) game where you basically... run around and shoot at each other.  I was dumb and only tested with player 1, so the BARRIERS only work with player 1, everyone else can run right through them, but I'm too lazy to fix it.
Made with C++ and the Allegro game programming library

MekkiPets (map editor)

For a while I was planning a game that was like a mix between Harvest Moon and Monster Rancher, using an online friend's pets she drew, but I got kind of discouraged, since I'm a crappy programmer and can't even get screen scrolling AND collision detection to work at the same time.  At least, not several months ago, haven't touched the project since I uploaded this.

Here are two screenshots of what I've been working on over the summer.  I'm making a FPS-Survival/Hunting game which will be somewhat (though quite vaguely) reminiscent of Oregon Trail and other old games.  The setting of the game will be the Sierra Mountains.  I'm not going to release any more details than that since I plan to sell this game in the future and don't want to infringe on something potentially sensitive.  It's a solo project, so the work is slow and steady, but I think it will be done within three months (given my rate of progress thus far).  My dream is to be a solo game developer or find one good partner to work with (I'm going to completely finish this game myself though for the experience) and just make a bunch of small-scale 3d games for a living.

This game will be powered by my software engine which I made a topic about a long time ago and can be found here: http://rome.ro/smf/index.php/topic,5785.0.html.  It will be locked at 640x480 for performance reasons, and being run on a software engine, the graphics will be old school and will be comparable in quality to Playstation-era 3d games.  What I want to focus on with my games is gameplay, level design, and atmosphere rather than cutting edge graphics and animation.

...

I have a ton of work to do, but I like doing it, and I am a pretty self-motivated guy.  I'm starting on trees right now...will probably be up till 2-3am tonight in fact working on them.  These screenshots are not representative of the game's style so much as they are representative of the quality of the terrain editor I've made (these are in-editor screenshots, which explains why the terrain gets cut off at a certain distance).  I have not yet started on the core gameplay programming...the environment is what I have been working on.  Please share any thoughts you have about my project, and if you happen to be a superambitious want-to-be-making-small-scale-old-school-style-3d-games-for-a-living guy, pm me.

I'm looking for someone who has a huge passion for games but doesn't want to get on a huge team in the game industry where they feel they barely have a role in shaping the game.  You don't have to have much skill at all in programming or art, but you have to be highly self-motivated and willing to work hard.  A passionate and ambitious artist would be what I am really looking for, since I fit the role of programming well and definitely would love to have a good digital artist/3d artist working with me.  If you live in or near Orange County, CA, that would be even better as we could work together in person.  But I am willing to start a partnership with anyone as long as I see that they share my passion.  I believe that if I could find just one person who had my ambition and willpower, we could start something that is unstoppable.  Until I find a partner though, I have no problem with riding solo.  I just think I could get even greater things done if I had a partner there to work with who shared my passion and who I could draw energy from.

Nice shots, but your terrain really needs some kind of lighting, even if that's a single-colored (luminance) lightmap spread across the terrain :-). I can barely understand where the slopes and hills are :-P.
