Black what? Help.

I hope I'm not wasting space by bringing up a previously asked question, but I've had a particular game in my head for a long while now, and I MUST know it's name.

It was an Apple game, of course, I'd say released around 1987-1988 (perhaps earlier), and was an action-RPG of sorts, all overhead. The title/menu screen had two nicely animated torches on each side, and the game itself sported some amazing sound effects, almost all of them accosiated with magic spells. I do not recall the name of the game, but when I bounce the visuals around the skull, I come up with things like 'Legend of Black Thorne,', or 'Legend of Black Beard' (obviously not.)

But I KNOW the game had double hi-res graphics, looked great on my old Franklin compat, and had the word 'black' somewhere in the title.
