Well, I'm definitely going to buy it, but I have a question for any one who's played it on pc.

I'll be upgrading at some point in the future, but at the moment I have a sufficient pc, spec include:

Amd Athlon 64 3000+

1 gig Ram

EVGA Geforce 7600 256mb KO

According to the recommended requirements, I meet them, however, I'm still not sure. I want this game to run very well and look excellent, I have an xbox360 and could get it for that but then I have no mouse and keyboard.

Does anybody have advice on this? Will it run the way I want it to on my machine? Or will it look and run better on my 360?

PC version; you can always upgrade later and play with what you have right now until you can upgrade.

Also, with the PC version you'll have custom user content such as downloadable maps, mods, etc. that won't be made available to console gamers because they - of course - don't have access to a level editor.

Better control over better visuals any day.

You mean Half Life 2 Orange Box?
Well, don't worry...i play to MAX detail with HL 2 Demo, without problems....
and i have a 7300 GS for Video Card and 1,5 Gb of RAM....and a Single Core Processor AMD Athlon 64 3600+....
You'll play with it without problems...and if you have problems, get lower the resolution...

I'm getting the 360 version because it doesn't require Steam.

Wow.  Just finished Portal and Half Life 2 - Episode 2.

HL2-Ep2 is pretty much more of the same formula as HL2-Ep1.  More outdoors, slightly flashier looking graphics.  But ultimately more of the same.  There's no doubt that the whole series has been exceptional but - here we are 2007 and HL2-Ep2 is pretty much more of the same.  Is Half Life starting to pass its sell-by date?

Portal is pretty damn cool though - especially for what is essentially a glorified puzzle game.  But the character of the psychotic AI computer conducting portal experiments on you is hilarious. And the ending has got to be one of the best I've ever seen. It really made my day.  But you've really got to play it to understand.

You should be fine.  I run the game on fairly high settings (just a few features like AA turned off) at 1024x768 on a Radeon 9600 Pro card, AMD 2400+, and 1 Gb RAM, and it runs smooth still.

Here where I live the Orange Box is being sold in stores as well as on STEAM.  Not sure about the rest of you guys though since I'm not sure what countries you reside in.
