The last eight years have seen the deaths of many good things. Lets celebrate!
R.I.P
Print media (magazines, books, comic books, etc.) Libraries the music industry (music videos, music sales,.. and the industry is dominated by American Idol and Disney) PC Gaming (that's what everyone says,.. and mass perception = reality, right?) the movie blockbuster ( even the most successful movies are out of theaters and on DVD in a couple of weeks and then forgotten) optimism ( as much as I hope the new president can fix things,.. I'm sure he'll try, and I'd love for him to succeed .... I have a gut feeling that the damage is irreversable and everything will just continue to spiral out of control no matter what is done to the point of total collapse and we might as well just all kill ourselves now.) malls network tv any business that is not Wal-Mart personal interaction
I'm sure there's more.. feel free to add to the list.

Easter eggs
Secret Levels
Levels in general
High Scores
Lives
2D graphics
Phantasy Star Online (I just miss it)
Dreamcast (miss that too)
Fighting Games
Things dying out in general:
Formula One
Telephones
Fax Machines
Neighborhoods without HOA
Family Dinner (cooked at home)
Water Parks
Space Programs
Kids that play outside
wristwatches
my 401k

Imagination, denoted by students' unwillingness to rebel and by the media's huge obsession with realism

It seems to me that "getting out of the house for fun" is dead.
I'm not a luddite,.. but the internet isn't helping anything.
(On the theme of never leaving the house) My brothers child is "home-schooled". She's about eight years old and can't even read. Plus since she's only around her mom or dad all day she can't interact well with other people. She acts like a fucked up monkey. But her perants are fucked up morons so that makes sense.
Then my brother has some next door neighbors and their two teenage sons are "home-schooled". They basically just play games ALL day and NEVER get out of the house except to go to my brothers house to play a LAN game or something. They're so sheltered and ignorant and don't know how to talk to people it's pathetic.

Some obscure ones:
Payphones: They cost too much now, (50cents a call in Canada,) and cellphones and blackberry's are so common that who actually uses them anymore?
Network TV: Save for reality shows. Damn near everything on the air is a minimum of 10 years old or worse and there's no creativity or heart in the old school networks anymore.
Boxing: After a horrible 90's where we saw Oscar DelaHoya embarass the sport by contantly running away in the ring, Don King now BLATENTLY fixing title fights and 10,000 new weight classes and titles, MMA simply mopped the floor with boxing. I can't even tell you who the boxing champs are nor do I even care anymore.

Feature Porn: Porn used to have crappy acting and some kind of goofy story to keep you entertained between nailings. Now it's all dudes screwing hookers and filming it, (in POV fashion and in some cases even admitting it.)
Playboy Magazine: Trying to appeal to fratboys and gangbangers has killed the once classy men's magazine.
The Wacky Neighbor: On tv that is. Now EVERY show HAS to have a token gay best friend character at all times.

I have never owned a cell phone. Mostly because if I did, the only people that would be calling me would be my mom or dad. Also,.. I just don't want to talk on the phone to people when I'm not at home.
