Is anyone else besides me totally psyched up to play Street Fighter IV?  You have to understand, Street Fighter II was one of the main reasons I wanted a SNES so bad.  I have been a fan since I first played the arcade version.  The Alpha series is my idea of "Street Fighter" in its most polished form, but I have to admit that Street Fighter II & Super Street Fighter II Turbo, which are what they seem to have used as a model to progress from with Street Fighter IV, are the games to judge 2D fighting by.  A series I thought dead has risen with what appears to be another addicting hit!

SF4 is too little to late.  If Capcom had not been pissing about with so many 2D variants(most of which were recycled crap) over the last decade or two, then we would have had this game a lot sooner.   Fuck SNK, Marvel and Namco - all us fans have asked for over the years is proper sequels to Street Fighter, Final Fight and Dark Stalkers.

This isn't to say that SF4 is a bad game - its actually a solid entry in the series - but it certainly does not deserve over-hyped scores of 98% and 10/10 simply because its "Street Fighter II in 3D".

I'll most likely get it on PC, though.

Capcom created a 3d Street Fighter back in the late 90's.  There were two of them on the Playstation.  And then there was one at the launch of the PS2.        In the middle of all that they released Street Fighter 3 (which was 2d but the gameplay and animated sprites were top-notch) to arcades and Dreamcast and no one seemed to care because games like Tekken were all the rage. (it also probebly was because the Dreamcast died and SF3 wasn't on another console untill it was released on the "Street Fighter Collection" for PS2 and X-Box.

So now that the fighting game genre has thinned out and is no longer a big deal,.. people are finally noticing Street Fighter again when they release #4.  And a great game it is.

But honestly,.. Street Fighter 3, the big true sequel to SF2,  has been around about 10 years. People were just oblivious.

Street Fighter III was awesome, but in my opinion it was aimed at hardcore fighting game players due to the parrying, and return to no air-blocking.

You seem to view games as assignments.   I say fuck it and do whatever you want.  I rarely beat a game.  I just play.

Haha, I'm not treating them as assignments at all.  I just have a LOT of games I actively want to play right now, so it's really bloody hard for me to add another to the list of games that are eating up my extremely minimal free time.  ;)
