Best. Game. Ever.

Like, look at me, I loved this game. The story line, the atmosphere, the level of detail on the maps, the bosses, the weapons, it was just simply one of the best games I have ever played. This is a prime example of gameplay over graphics.

And unfortunately we'll never know what happened to poor Mr.Walters. Or atleast a goddamn patch. :P

Need a patch? I have one. It's unofficial DCotE Patch to version 1.2

With this patch you can do with this game all what you want.

Sorry for my bad English =)

You mean the DCOTE hack? Its not even a proper patch, its just a client patched onto the dcote.exe that enables cheats, which can be used to bypass some of the game's bugs. But no thanks, I already have it.

Other then that, it seems that the game is dead now. The developers said themselves they didn't make any tools to mod the game in a web article, online play has been scratched during development and the bugs and graphics of the game seem to turn off players.

:(

Interesting you start this thread.

I too am a good friend of Niel, and strangely enough had a dream last night that him and I were playing a co-operative version of DCOTE.

Love the game, and love the original content that was removed. I started a few mods and even started the co-op mod on the DCOTE boards (username Ray)

I even ended up recreating a lot of original content:

Older fans of the game may remember this -> http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/5962/elephantshotgunwg6.jpg

Also, the game is indeed moddable =) The maps and models can be edited in 3dsmax with some special plugins, and the textures can be edited in DCOTETEX -> Check out my modded DCOTE thread on the DCOTE forums http://callofcthulhu.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4716&hl=python

Good old days were spent playing this game =) Loved it, and although Headfirst Interactive went completely bankrupt, the game still got released, and the legacy lives on.

I remembered seeing Youtube videos of modifications, but not exactly the kind of mods I would like to see if you know what I mean.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3OlvqkpX5s -Recreated Jack Walters (Looks like what you made Blackmantis O.o)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVUJiDz1Geg -Cthulhu stuff in HL2

When I meant 'mods', I meant as in changing the maps, gameplay, etc. Virtually any game's visuals can be changed.
Lightning Gun Arena ftw

Lightning Gun Arena ftw

I made both those videos =)

Slikhedgehog is my primary youtube account. Stormwaregames was meant to be a professional digital resume sort of account but I never got around to uploading more than a few temp videos. That Jack has come quite far since then. (Most people won't see it but I've added the salt-and-pepper hairline, stubble etc). It needs a higher resolution texture but I'm sticking to recreate the original 2003 model.

And yep, I'm certainly here Caleb =) Friend of J Romero.
