This probably should have been put in the random fact thread now that I think about it...

I just want to drop in and say that as of the first of this October; I'm now a 5 year member of this forum, and I've come to regard many of you as good friends.  I haven't heard from a lot of you in a while, but it's been awesome so far getting to know everyone here.  We've had some very interesting, entertaining, heated, informative, hilarious and just plain weird discussions!  I'd do some shout outs, but I don't want to miss anybody's name, and there are a lot of you!

Anyway, that's it.  Long live GameTalk!

  Hey!  I've been here since 2002 ! Or maybe earlier because I think John overhauled the forums in 02 and people had to re-register?
  Anyway,... I remember reading a 2000 issue of PCGamer and there was a small article on game dev "celebrities" and the stuff they put on their websites.  There was one part about John and Stevie's websites with quotes and stuff.   

  I ended up becoming interested in getting a peek into the daily lives of people who get paid to make games,.. so I started visiting Romero's and Stevie's site.  I especially loved when John used to talk all nostalgic about his days working at ID.   Maybe I just deep down want to hang out in a nice comfy office building being creative?  But anyway that's how I got here and despite how DEAD the boards are I keep coming back.   The people that are actually still here are nice and interesting and not typical forum assholes.

These boards have seen more lively days, but they're not totally dead. In fact, it used to be that it would take a week or so to see new ports*, but these days there is more activity.

On January 12th it will be my 5 years here. This forum is awesome, haven't met people like the ones here on any other forum. You guys are truly awesome. It would be cool if some more people (like me) posted more often to get the forums rolling again. I've been so busy lately, that's why I haven't really been on that much.

I would post more, but my interests have shifted away from gaming and much more towards really obscure music.

It's all good.  As long as there's a little activity, we're doing fine.  I'm going to be gaming for life, so as long as there are games, and people like us who play them, I'll be here to talk about them and everything else we do.
