Hm... I think I liked Max Payne better than Max Payne II. The sequel was short and Max looked like some old guy. It was fun, but I had to get used to the slight keyboard change for jumping with bullet time. The switch to Mona Sax later in the game was interesting, but there wasn't anything new about the gameplay with her. But one thing I did like was the use of the physics engine. It made the environment a little more fun :)

I agree, although max payne 2 had a bit more features, max payne had a better storyline. I wish max payne 2 had been longer though.

I thought long and hard about this one.
5)  Battletoads for NES - Back in the day i logged so many hours on that game...never got old
4)  Super Mario 3 - This doesnt need explanation

3)  Zelda 64 - Another game i could play through many times without getting bored.

2)  Doom 2 - This game scared the hell out of me when i first playted it, and i still play it   today

1)  Final Fantasy VII - Awesome story line.  and so so much you could do.

I'm sad nobodies mentioned half-life considering it spawned one of the most popular multiplayer games ever (whose numbers are still more than the 3 games under it combined).

Anyway here's my list with various reasons:

5. Super Mario - Who doesn't like mario?
4. Starcraft - Was ahead of it's time in AI and graphics.
3. Quake 2 - Come on it has a major tournament named after it!
2. Half-life/HL2 - Any game that can make a tram sequence seem interesting wins in my books. HL2 was a pretty amazing follow up to it.

1. Counter-Strike - Not only was it a community made game but it created one of the largest communities a game has ever seen. It's still going strong. I might get flamed because it's a mod but it's kept me interested for 4 years.

1. Panzer Dragoon Saga
2. NiGHTS Into Dreams
3. The Curse of Monkey Island
4. Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy
5. Dance Dance Revolution

I feel guilty by excluding so many games...

1. Doom
2. Doom 3
3. Quake
4. Quake 3
5. Enter The Matrix

Doom defined gaming, the first ever FPS. It was addictive, scary, but yet, fun at the same time.

Doom 3, Scariest game I have ever played, Jesus. *Remembers when he innocently walked up to a door and a random demon head broke through and took a chunk out of me.

Quake, well, it's Quake I guess.

Quake 3! What a game. :D The best multiplayer game I have ever played.

Matrix, what could be better than kicking serious arse in slow motion? :)

Wolf3d was banned in some countrys, and Doom had a better engine.

Ok, let me rephrase it.

Doom defined gaming, the first ever worldwide FPS, it was addictive,  scary, but yet, fun at the same time.
