OK, here is the most important issue, as I see it.

ZDaemon is incredibly faithful to Doom2.exe with the release of 1.07.  The old sound curve is there, aka, the old strategy is required again.  You can't hear every single little thing that happens on the map.

The old player movement speed is back from Doom2.exe.  The play now moves the proper speed in ZDaemon -- it's faster than old versions of ZD and Skulltag.  Faster -- cool.

The old weapon damage system is back.  The ssg no longer sucks.  The BFG is slightly easier to dodge.

In Skulltag, all of these things are still broken.  Not to mention Skulltag's community is main comprised of teenagers who only know DOOM as a game where you jump around, rocket jump and mouselook.  They have practically no regard for what the game actually is.  Furthermore, that the Skulltag _standard_ is the allowance of the new weapons (railgun, minigun, grenade launcher... wtf) is just absurd.

And finally, so many of the gameplay characteristics that make DOOM what it is are gone, as the standard, of ST.  No wallrunning = standard.  No silent BFG trick = standard.

If all that's not enough, I can only say that Skulltag isn't anywhere close to DOOM, whereas ZDaemon is very faithful.  Not even Skulltag's "Oldskool mode" (oh please) is fixes as many things as the current ZDaemon standard.

The only thing Skulltag has that ZDaemon doesn't that's actually desirable is the 70 frames per second cap, instead of 35.

nicely put hertz

Its a very good point, zdaemon does an excellent job of sticking to the basics which made doom an excellent game.  IMO skulltag twisted things around too much, its not that fun... at least thats what I think.

The biggest thing about Skulltag is that its community is so young, they actually accept all that extra stuff as the STANDARD of DOOM II play, whereas in any other community, they'd be absolutely gamebreaking features.

Nobody cares.  Please, can you people keep the stupid "multiplayer source port wars" off of Rome.ro?

This is nothing new, and all of you know better.

I used to be in the same community with these dipshits (made some of the ZDaemon CTF maps)  Trust me, unless you like rednecks, staff who put their underage girlfriends above people who care about the game/community, and the stupidest community this side of CounterStrike, avoid ZDaemon.  And every time a ZDaemon post is made in a 'neutral' forum, the skulltag folks are not far behind, post, and the whole thread goes to shit.

Nothing new.

edit:  nevermind, I'm finished. :)  If you want a faithful experience with a huge communty, play ZDaemon.  If you want to play with new weapons and gameplay abilities (jumping, mouselook, etc) play ST.

Thats right you used to be in this community, but you decided to take a "Vacation"... now I see you got some kinda grudge on us, thats unfortunate... And this "Girlfriend" stuff has got to stop, there is nothing to it and you know it. Your angry because most of the people don't like you anymore (People who yell 80% of the time tend not to be liked) and you are looking for some kind of argument to grasp, and it wont work.

Quite a contradiction from your last post about not starting port wars, and I agree, that shit should not be in these forums. Yet here you are poring gas on the fire. I'm not suprised.

And to defend Both Communities,

The fact is, the "dipshits" you refer to are the ones who make a scene like you, you disobey the rules, you get punished for it and you obviously don't like the results and then go on a crusade against the community. I have seen it before, and your no different than the rest. You're not special, so don't act like it.

I'm sorry this had to turn into an argument, would be great if someone would lock this thread to prevent anymore nonsense :\ This is not what I intended my thread to turn into, and my apologies to those who try to avoid this kindof crap.

Besides, no need to be rude, if you don't like it why comment with "<insert port here> blows", no need for that at all.

Allthough, you are from skulltag I belive, so I'm not suprised

No,  I was originally from Zdaemon, until all that shit with UDM3 started [which I had no part of], and all the flamage directed to my clan and I, after that we  decided to leave.

I mean no harm in saying this, but a gigantic bulk of the world's skilled players are ZDaemoners.  That's a fact, not a bias.  Now that I think about it, _all_ of the actual top players play ZDaemon and/or Doom2.exe exclusively.  I'm thinking of Oce, Dev, Chewy, and some other extremely leet players.

As for  there being a large number of jerks or noobs, Skulltag has them too.

Heh, I know these two guys who'll regularly play the original Heretic and DOOM II .exe's nearly every night via IPX client software.
I've joined 'em a couple games, good times.

Cripes - comparing source ports is starting to sound like vinyl/CD debates. Heh. :P

Nobody to blame for that except yourselves.  I'm not in either community anymore and I"m basically the peanut gallery watching the two retarded kids fight, pointing and laughing the whole time.

One of these unfaithful days, Skulltag and Zdaemon will merge creating "Zdaetagskull" and all hell will break loose causing Doom Connector to come back from the grave.

But seriously, I know some of the new features of Skulltag are somewhat annoying but who cares. I play both Zdaemon and Skulltag and I appreciate both ports, however its the dev team themselves, Skulltag consists of only one person who develops it and he listens from the feedback of the community of what to change and what not to change, while Zdaemon's so called "dev team" are the marching nazis they are dont really care of what suggestion you give to them. Hence forth of why I play ST alot more than Zdaemon. And if you guys want to play oldschool so badly, get a 233mhz machine w/ Win95, boot up DM.exe that came w/ Doom/Doom2 and you and 3 other friends can have an old school fragfest at your own LAN party. No modifications what so ever. :D
